About the Owner

Our President and CEO Dave Vogt is a Salem, OR native.  Born in 1970, he was raised amidst the construction dust and noise of power tools, his dad working diligently building houses throughout greater Salem.  He attended Sprague High School, graduating in 1988.  A true “beaver believer”, Dave spent his college career buried in the engineering program at Oregon State University, eventually earning his Civil Engineering degree in 1993. It was during college he found his way to Salem Road and Driveway, starting as a flagger along various paving projects.  Unbeknownst to him at the time, this was the leaping off point to a 30-year asphalt paving career.

Flagging at Salem Road and Driveway led to asphalt paving production, then management, eventually becoming the General Manager in 2001-2004.  From there he elevated his career when Hooker Creek of Bend, OR came calling, asking Dave to become their Construction and Paving Division Manager.  He remained there until Hooker Creek dissolved this division in the wake of the 2008-09 economic meltdown.  Undaunted, Dave saw a challenge and capitalized on this opportunity to start his own paving company, 7 Peaks Paving.

Over these 30 years, Dave examined, bid, designed and constructed everything from driveways to highways.  A true thinker and risk taker, Dave worked hard to be an innovator in the asphalt paving industry. His depth of experience in the industry saw him accomplish many firsts; the first warm mix asphalt highway paved in Oregon, the first recycled asphalt shingle highway project in Oregon, and the first commercial porous pavement parking lot in Oregon.

30 years.  30 years doing anything is a stretch and an accomplishment in itself.  It was time to hang up the 7 Peaks mantle and he decided to sell the business to his partner.  He eventually moved back into the valley and pondered his next move.

Not one to sit on his hands, in 2018 Asphalt Consulting Management, LLC became his next venture, its primary mission to improve asphalt pavement construction and rehabilitation practices, innovating new ways to extend the life of existing asphalt pavements.

Fast forward to July of 2020, Asphalt Consulting Management was called on by Spring Mountain Motorsports in Pahrump, NV to recommend and provide a product that would protect and extend the life of the asphalt on one of its four roadtracks.

The issue at hand was the corners on their newly paved racetrack were ravelling and spalling prematurely; in short, they were falling apart.  For some context, corners on a racetrack are constantly subjected to high heat and tire friction and are, by far, the first part of the track to fail.

Surefire fix was to overlay the track.  Extremely costly, and there was no guarantee the local paver was going to use the correct oil mix.  Back to square one.

Dave had his hands full.  He knew there was nothing on the market to definitively solve the problem, so he went to work in the ACM lab, conjuring up a solution. The result was Track Armor, a never before seen, highly durable, petroleum free, black coating that mimicked the friction of the existing asphalt. In November of that same year, the first test sections were placed on the racetrack at Spring Mountain Motor Sports. Track Armor was officially born. The coating was met with rave reviews from all track driving instructors and club members alike.

The original coating is still functioning on those corners today.

Very soon after, a new formula was derived from the Track Armor development, and testing for placement on parking lots, roadways and all pavements began.  The project was geared towards those surfaces that do not endure the heavy repetitive traffic loading experienced by racetracks.

This proprietary mix design is what is now Asphalt Armor.  Asphalt Armor is a one-of-a-kind, patent pending, high performance, non-petroleum- based product developed to protect your asphalt pavement from both environmental decay and everyday traffic.

This particular mix design was first placed at the clubhouse and administration building of Spring Mountain Motorsports in March of 2021.

Why would you just seal coat your driveway when you can now Armor Coat it?

TrackBond

TrackBond is an extremely durable high performance asphalt coating specifically designed to protect areas of extremely high traffic, heat and friction caused by high performance cars on asphalt racetracks. TrackBond was first developed to extend the life of the high wear corners on the racetracks at Spring Mountain Motor Sports. First placed in November of 2020 it is still providing the same protection and durability as it did on day 1.

TrackBond is most effective when it is placed within a few weeks of the track first being paved. It has the unique capability of protecting the asphalt pavement with a high-tech armor that is able to withstand the massive sheer stresses created from a hot racecar tire in a high-speed corner. Its unique formula perfectly matches the friction of the existing asphalt track, so your drivers feel no difference between entering or exiting the coated area of the racetrack. Since the corners are the first high maintenance part of a racetrack, you can expect many years of additional life from your new asphalt just with the use of TrackBond.

“TrackBond – Durable and Dependable”

TrackBond can also repair damaged racetracks. If your racetrack corners are showing significant raveling and wear from repetitive racecar loading AsphaltArmor has the solution. We have fill materials that can be placed in larger voids prior to the TrackBond coating application to help level out the corners of your racetrack and extend the life for many years.
